This is the latest work i am busy with. I am working on the finish i will get after firing,i am wanting the top of the crackle to sinter out just a bit so i can add what ever i want to the background body.
This is a large container that was slab constructed. Before bisc i put on a layer of under glaze then a copper carb. wash that i sponged off. After bisc i applied a dry glaze with a craw glaze on top. Low fire. This pot i am going to refire in a sagger to smoke it. I want the bare clay parts to be black.
Here i made this box with a flip top , the hinge has a piece of plastic coated wire in it that i put in after glazing.
This is a low temp. red that has had some iron chromate and frited iron solution sprayed onto the glaze before baking to 1050 c. This is normally a deeper red but now there are flashings of orange and yellows. Different but..
. A slab built box. Here i first put a copper carb. wash ( in the deeper parts of the surface ) and terra sigillata on before bisc. After bisc. i put on a low fire red glaze that i wiped off just so that the terra gets some color and i get a hint of red to give the pot some life. The lower part has a darker terra on and just before glaze bake i sprayed a solution of iron chromate and a frited iron on to the work to get fine spotting on the surface and to accentuate the base line and handles.
Here are some pieces that came out of the bisc. oven. Still working mainly with the slab roller. Shoulder still out of it, so centering on the kick wheel a problem.
