The first of a new idea has reached the drying rack. This shape will get a crackle terra sigillata and then lastly a smoke fire. I have made the hole for a wooden handle that i have already made prototypes of . The addition of the torn clay lid puts hours on the work time.
Here is the latest pot with crackle terra. I have found that i have to set the crackle in at a higher temp. now and it seems as if it will produce good results .
We started off our 3 week end exhibition this weekend. Our ceramic group ( Cuesta ) holds a yearly exhibition in an old farm that has been declared a protected monument .
Getting the sagger smoke better now. I was getting either no smoke in the crackle or to black. Seems better now. Have worked out that by opening the sagger when still very hot i can alter the effect by re oxidizing or adding more saw dust to the bottom of the sagger.
