My name is Blayne Knox and I’m a studio potter that has my roots in South Africa but have studied ceramics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Eeklo Belgium. I am a pupil of Ann Mortier a renowned Belgian ceramic artist and teacher. Having a technical background, I have been lucky enough to be able to build and construct almost every piece of equipment needed to make these ceramic works. After exploring many different methods of ceramics, I hope to pass on ideas and inspiration to others through this site and workshops. I use a kick wheel and an electric wheel for turned works and use electric, wood and gas-fired kilns. I am a member of Cuesta which is a ceramics group that works out of an old farmhouse in Drongengoedhoeve Knesselaare in Belgium. I do give workshops on a range of different decoration techniques in Dutch and English.
